On June 26, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting dedicated to ensuring production and export indicators in the automotive industry scheduled for the current year and determining prospects for development of the sphere. This was reported by the Press Service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. 

It was noted that automotive industry has an important place in the country's economy, however, the volumes of production and exports have recently declined. The rooting of corruption, bribery, nepotism at all levels of government in the sphere was criticized. 

There are a lot of debt in the system of "Uzavtosanoat" joint-stock company. Several enterprises of the company completed the last year with a loss. For a number of years, the export of cars was carried out at a price below the cost price. In turn, no action was taken to reduce costs. 

The Head of the state gave instructions on reducing the cost of production of automotive industry, increasing the level of localization, reducing the volume of imports. The President noted the need for providing industrial enterprises with working capital, improving the system of production and sale of cars in the domestic and foreign markets. 

The task was set on development of a concept for further development of the country's automotive industry. 

Special attention was paid to revision of car dealers accommodation and distribution of cars, streamlining the system of selling cars in the domestic market. 

Instructions were given to relevant officials on the issues discussed at the meeting.
