President of Uzbekistan met with Speaker of South Korea's Parliament
On September 26, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Chung Sye-kyun.
The Head of our state warmly welcoming the guest, emphasized the important role of parliaments of the two countries in strengthening friendship and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and South Korea, expanding traditionally close and multifaceted cooperation.
It was particularly noted that South Korea is one of the key and reliable partners of Uzbekistan. Today, contacts are intensively developing at various levels, both in a bilateral format and within the framework of international organizations.
Fruitful cooperation is developing with leading South Korean companies and banks on implementation of priority programs on diversification of industry and modernization of infrastructure in our country. At present, the portfolio of joint investment projects in various sectors of the economy exceeds more than 7 billion dollars.
Bilateral relations are expanding in scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres, medicine and education, as well as in the sphere of tourist exchange.
At the meeting, the importance of further strengthening partnership between the parliaments of the two countries and their profile committees, enhancing activities of parliamentary friendship and cooperation groups, organizing regular mutual visits and joint events in Uzbekistan and South Korea, was noted.
Particular attention was paid to issues of strengthening cooperation in promoting joint trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian projects, as well as cooperation within the framework of international inter-parliamentary structures.
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea highly appreciated and expressed support for the new stage of structural reforms implemented in Uzbekistan within the framework of the adopted Country Development Strategy.
Chung Sye-kyun, expressing deep gratitude for the warm welcome, conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes to the Head of our state Shavkat Mirziyoyev on behalf of the President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in. The distinguished guest also noted that the leadership of South Korea expects an early visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to this country.
Chung Sye-kyun assured that by joint efforts the parliaments of the two countries will make a practical contribution to the preparation of the forthcoming summits and further deepening of bilateral relations of strategic partnership.
