Following the talks at the highest level, a ceremony of signing bilateral documents was held.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe signed a Joint Statement on further deepening and expanding strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Japan.

Agreements signed between the governments of the two countries on cooperation in the tax and customs spheres, as well as on implementation of major energy and infrastructure projects were exchanged.

In addition, during the visit of Uzbekistan delegation, more than ten documents were signed in the economy, industry, tourism, science, innovation, information and communication technologies, labor migration, education and sports, as well as on interregional cooperation.

The leaders of the two countries addressed the meeting with media representatives.

The President of Uzbekistan noted that development and further expansion of multifaceted and mutually beneficial cooperation with Japan is one of the priorities of Uzbekistan's foreign policy.

"Today we have thoroughly discussed the prospects of political, inter-parliamentary ties, cooperation in trade and investment, innovation, small and medium-sized business, science and education, healthcare, culture and others, and reached important agreements. Within the framework of the visit, agreements on major projects were concluded with leading companies and organizations of Japan. These projects are noteworthy, primarily because they are aimed at attracting the advanced achievements of Japanese science and high technologies to the economy of Uzbekistan", said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In turn, the Prime Minister of Japan praised the policy pursued by President Mirziyoyev on liberalizing the country's economy. Confidence was expressed for the signed solid package of documents that would contribute to building up trade, economic and investment ties, cultural and humanitarian relations between the two countries.

"Together with Mr. President, we, guided by the Joint Statement, will work hand in hand to develop cooperation in all areas", said Shinzo Abe.

The affinity of positions of the parties on the current issues of the international agenda was confirmed.
