President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has visited the Imam Bukhari memorial complex in Samarqand Region.

Speaking at the Astana summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) of 8-9 June, the Head of State said that the creation of an Imam Bukhari international scientific research centre in Samarqand would be an important step towards strengthening international and intercultural relations.

This new centre that is being created will serve to propagate Islamic culture and values, to protect young people from various alien ideas, to give them modern education and upbringing and to instil such feelings in the hearts of the younger generation as being worthy of their great ancestors.

Information about the general outline of the project of the research centre being built and a project of improvement work to be carried out around was presented to the President.

Starting and doing these noble deeds in the holy month of Ramadan are good and advisable in every respect, said the Head of State.

This work will bear fruit. Another thing to which special attention should be paid is that those coming to the Imam Bukhari memorial complex will also visit the research centre so that they get the necessary information about true Islamic teachings.

The projects specify improvement work around the complex, the construction of trade and services facilities and the widening of roads there.

The Head of State inspected a project of construction of two and three-storey affordable apartment houses for people in Payariq District.

The President also visited the field of the "Topolos" farm in Payariq District, held conversations with farmers and peasants and found out about crop yields.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev presided over a gathering attended by governors and officials of the region. At this gathering, there was discussion about economic development in the region and the creation of new jobs, about work being done to develop small business and private entrepreneurship and about future priority tasks.
