On November 15, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, upon arrival in the city of Nukus, became familiar with activities implemented on modernization of Nukus International Airport.

In pursuance of instructions given by the Head of the state during the trip to Karakalpakstan in January 2017, activities worth nearly 80 billion UZS were completed here. The airport building was reconstructed, the terminal was expanded and equipped in accordance with modern requirements.

The President noted that Nukus International Airport has an important place in the economic development of Karakalpakstan, expansion of business cooperation, and increase in tourist flow.
