On August 27, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Samarkand. The head of our state began his trip to the region from visiting the final resting place of the First President of our country Islam Karimov.

The President of our country inspected activities that have been carried out in the complex. 

A memorial complex is being built in the city of Samarkand in accordance with the resolution of the head of our state "On perpetuating the memory of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Abduganiyevich Karimov" of January 25, 2017. 

On April 14, 2017 the President of our country during the trip to Samarkand region got acquainted with the project of this complex and gave instructions on its improvement. In accordance with them, a large-scale construction and landscaping activities were carried out here. The mausoleum is erected from marble and granite, decorated with inscriptions of ayats from the sacred Koran. Wise sayings of Islam Karimov are written on the portals under the arch in Uzbek, English and Arabic. The territory adjoining the complex is expanded, all conditions are created for visitors. The mausoleum of the First President of our country is harmoniously combined with the mosque of Hazrati Khizr. 

Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave recommendations on completion of construction and landscaping work in the complex, further improvement of conditions for visitors, improvement of the cemetery.

An international scientific research center of Imam Bukhari is being created at this complex at the initiative of the head of our state. 

The initiative of the head of our state on establishment of the international scientific research center under the memorial complex of Imam Bukhari, the activity of which will be aimed at studying of the rich and multifaceted heritage of our great ancestors, who had made a huge contribution to the development of Islamic culture and human civilization, was widely supported by the public of our country and the international community. 

A large-scale creative work is being conducted here. The President of our country Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his trip to Samarkand region on April 14, 2017, got acquainted with the construction of this center. 

During the visit of the head of our state to Saudi Arabia on May 21 of this year, a Memorandum of understanding was signed between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Development Bank on the establishment of an international scientific research center named after Imam Bukhari. 

Currently, the construction of the center is actively continuing. The head of our state noted the need to build this center in accordance with modern requirements, enrich its activities with spiritual content, establish scientifically sound work on promoting the rich heritage of our great ancestors. 

The President of our country is provided with information on projects for the improvement of Nurafshon street connecting the Dakhbed street of the city of Samarkand and the Imam Bukhari complex in Payarik district, the construction of modern houses, trade and service facilities along the street.
